In this phase the sun and the moon are in the same position. The new moon is a conjuction of the moon and the sun symbolizes the union of soul and spirit. 

On Sept 1, 2016 the next day there is a Partial Annular Eclipse. An Annular occurs when the Moon appears smaller than the sun as it passes centrally across the solar disk and a bringht ring, or annulus, of sunlight remains visible during the eclipse. .
